Finally, she pulled into her driveway and killed the engine. She’d
held her emotions in since seeing the soldier hug his daughter and she couldn’t
do it anymore. The floodgates opened and she sobbed hard as she rested her
forehead against the steering wheel. Her heart hammered against her rib cage as
she let it all out. Visions of Ethan ran on repeating through her mind.
Memories she had buried deep because they hurt too much to think about. Their
early morning fishing trips on the lake. The trail rides he’d taken her on
during the sweltering hot Georgia summers so they could swim in the pond.
Memories of his hands on her, his lips pressed against her neck, and the way
his body felt against hers.
