Hump Day Hook 10/29/2014

Welcome back! I hope you all are enjoying all the posts. I hope to hear your thoughts.

“Remember the rules,” her dad said. “No drinking, smoking, or illegal drugs. Curfew is midnight and…there’s one other thing.” He tapped his finger on his chin as if thinking. “Ah yes, don’t get my daughter pregnant.” And then he smiled and promptly shut the door in their shocked faces.
“Dad!” Harper screeched and she could hear him and her mother cackling on the other side of the door. “Oh, my God! I could die from embarrassment.”
Liam snorted out a laugh and scratched his forehead with his thumbnail. If one could actually die from embarrassment, Harper would certainly do so.
“Well, there goes that plan,” Liam said in mock seriousness.
Then the door flew open and her father stood there with flared nostrils and his chest puffed out.
“I kidding, sir. I swear.” Liam held his hands up in surrender, but he couldn’t stop laughing.

His laugher caused Harper to giggle which led to her father rolling his eyes and letting out a little laugh of his own.

Hump Day Hook 10/22

Hello all! Welcome back. I'm keeping it short this week since I've finally found my writing flow again. Here ya go! A little more of my YA.

“Help—” Harper tried to scream, but Nathan covered her mouth with his hand.

Her heart rate went from elevated to pounding out of her chest. She couldn’t catch her breath and her tears burned as they fell. She tried biting him, but he had his hand pressed so tightly against her mouth, she couldn’t. Panic took over then and she began to jerk and claw and kick as hard as she could. Just when she thought he would do something truly horrible, he was gone. The intrusive feeling of him being on top of her was gone. Harper opened her eyes to see Liam standing there with a murderous look in his blue eyes. Harper got to her feet and tried to control her breathing.

Hump Day Hook 10/15

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a wonderful day. I thought I'd share a little of my WIP with you. I love this story so far. Here you go!

They were half way to the front gates when all hell broke loose. People started screaming. The kinds of screams that stemmed from deep fear and Harper would never forget them. People were running and pushing others out of the way. It was like a stampede of humans. Parents were dragging their children or clutching them to their chests. Harper had no idea what was going on. Suddenly someone slammed into her and she lost her grip on Reece’s hand. Harper hit the ground so hard her breath whooshed out of her painfully. The people running didn’t even try to help. They just stepped on her or tripped over her crumpled form. The gravel cut into her bare legs and arms where her shorts and tank top didn’t provide cover. She couldn’t see Reece. She couldn’t hear anything but the horrified screams of the people trampling her.

Hump Day Hook Oct. 8th

Hello again! Look, this week I'm on time. I'm so excited to finally be writing again and I'm even more excited to get back into this YA I've been working on for...I don't know, like a year. I think I finally FINALLY know where I want it to go. So, here you go. Oh and BTW, the heroine's name has been changed in case you were wondering why it seems like a different person.

“Reece?” she shouted, but her voice sounded like she was shouting through a tunnel.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a flash of red. When she turned, she saw a red balloon. The bright color stood out starkly against the black and gray smoke. It bobbed along the side of a funnel cake stand before drifting up into tree. Harper ran that way even though she wanted to scream from the pain. Her muscles shook and something wet was on her face, but she kept going. The smoke choked her and burned her eyes. The crowd had thinned now, but she wished it hadn’t. There, ten feet away from her, Harper saw two little feet sticking out from under several bodies. Some of them were moving, but others weren’t. The feet were covered with two different colored shoes. One purple and one yellow.

Hump Day Hook

I'm late, but that's better than not posting at all. Here's a little peeky poo at what I'm working on. It's a YA so I hope you like it.

Reece bounced on her toes and her blond pig tails bounced as well. Her mother’s eyebrows dropped low on her forehead, but before she could protest, Avery led her little sister away. If they were going to dump her sister on her the last weekend before school started then Avery was going to get her good and hyper. By the time they got back, Reece would be a sugared up ball of terror. HA…serves them right.

Stop by next week for more!
