The Weeping Willow Tree
Lydia
ran at Willow
just as she heard heavy footsteps coming down the alleyway. The impact from her
small frame against Willow’s
was tremendous. She got knocked to the ground and struggled with Lydia. She
could hear shouting, but she couldn’t focus on what the words were. She felt a
burning pain in her chest, just under her collarbone, but she kept fighting.
She grabbed at Lydia’s
wrists and tried to push her hands away, but Lydia pushed harder. Willow tried with all her
might to get free, all to no avail. In the darkness it was hard to see what the
hell was happening. Another pain in her side where her ribs ended, and suddenly
she couldn’t breathe.
“Oh,
God!” Lydia screamed as she
stumbled away from Willow.
She vaguely registered something slick and red
on Lydia’s hands, but Willow couldn’t clear the
fog in her mind enough to figure out what it was. If she could only catch her
breath—
