Excerpt Silent Tears:
Hearing Brax call Jonah son brought a smile to her
face. She couldn’t hold onto the image of his face as he held her in his arms.
When Jonah ran off to do as he asked, Brax face morphed into one of utter
horror. He held his hand up from where it held her at her lower back. When she
saw it, she gasped when she realized it was covered in her blood. The tear that
streaked down his cheek was the last thing she saw before everything went
black.

An intriguing hook. It starts so innocently and turns into a horror scene so abruptly. Very well done. An attention grabber.
