Hump Day Hook

Hello people...it's been a while. Sorry for that, but I've been in writer mode for some time and am finally at a point where I think I can finish this damn book. I thought I'd share a little piece from it with you. This is not the cover for the book just a visual image for you.

At seven years old, Hannah didn’t understand what the emergency broadcast meant when it blared through the television. The sight of people running and screaming in panic didn’t register in her young mind. She remembered her mother covering her eyes when something came on the TV she shouldn’t see. Her father stayed on the phone and in his combat uniform, always at the ready. The sights on the TV were one thing, but when the screams started ripping through the air right outside her home, Hannah started to panic.

Hump Day!!!

Hello, how is everyone? It's that time again. I'm giving away a copy of Gravity Beach (Courage Series book 2) This is the summer give away blog hop and I'm supposed to tell you why I love summer time. The truth is...I don't like summer. LOL...I live in Georgia so it's freaking HOT. I hate being hot. There's only so much you can take off...well within the law anyway...so normally I'm miserable. Fall/winter is my time of the year. Anyway, here is a snip-it from Gravity Beach.

Excerpt:
“You have no right to say that to me, and then walk away. You don’t know me!”
“I want to though, but I’m not willing to be pulled in and pushed away.”
“You have no idea why I am the way I am.”
Jolie was soaked to the bone and shivering, but she held firm as she stared David down.
“Then tell me so I know what I’m getting into.”
“I loved a man with every little part of myself—”
“Let me guess, he broke your—”
“He died!” The words exploded out her. Shock filled David’s expression followed by what looked like guilt. “I pull and push because I have no idea what I’m doing. I like you David, but if I think about letting you in just a little, I see his face in my head.” She started sobbing.
“I—what do I say to that?” he said so quietly she almost didn’t hear him.

I will announce the winner this weekend so make sure you leave your email address!

Hump Day Hook

Hello all, sorry I missed last week. I've been trying to get a new book started and it always gives me a hard time in the beginning. Anyhoo, I've got a good start so I thought I'd play this week. I think I will give you all a little piece of it and see what you think. It's a young adult novel so there is nothing steamy in it. Sorry to disappoint! LOL here you go. This is from the first book in my future State of Decay series, The Deadlands. It's a zombie book cause we all know zombies rule! Well, unless they are trying to eat your face off...then all bets are off. This is NOT the cover because the book is still in the works, but I did make this to give you a visual!

Excerpt from The Deadlands, Book 1 of State of Decay series. (This is un-edited so sorry for any errors)
“I’ve been in here for two weeks!” Sarah landed a solid kick against the glass.
Sadly, the glass only vibrated, but didn’t shatter the way she would’ve liked. Apparently they learned a lesson from the last time they put her in this room. Her anger grew as did the power within her. She felt her insides heat up and when she glanced at her reflection, she saw her hazel eyes spark a strange orange color. Her hands fisted tightly. The lean muscles in her arms coiled as she fought against the foreign power inside her. Sarah started shaking as she tried to calm down. Her temper was the reason she was stuck in the stupid room.

So as you can see, Sarah is a little badass. I hope you like this because it's a ball to write. Let me know what you think!

Hump Day Hook

Wow...it's been weeks since I have been able to do a HDH post. I'm simi back to normal so I signed up this week. Anyhoo...I won't keep you waiting any longer. I give you a bit of Jolie and David from Gravity Beach! Because I've been absent here is a little smexy time.

Excerpt:

David ghosted his fingertips down the back of her arms, over her hips, and finally to the back of her thighs leaving chill bumps in his wake. He gripped her legs and lifted her easily off the floor. She felt small and breakable in his massive arms, but somehow in her heart, she knew he would treat her with care. She held onto him tightly as he took two steps to the bed, placed one knee on the bed, and gently lay her down on her back. Jolie liked the weight of David against her as he hovered over her, poised.

Just to give you a visual of what Jolie gets to play with, here is my muse for David.

Hump Day Hook

Hello everyone! It's been a while. Below you'll find a snipit from my latest release, Gravity Beach!

Excerpt:
Finally, she pulled into her driveway and killed the engine. She’d held her emotions in since seeing the soldier hug his daughter and she couldn’t do it anymore. The floodgates opened and she sobbed hard as she rested her forehead against the steering wheel. Her heart hammered against her rib cage as she let it all out. Visions of Ethan ran on repeating through her mind. Memories she had buried deep because they hurt too much to think about. Their early morning fishing trips on the lake. The trail rides he’d taken her on during the sweltering hot Georgia summers so they could swim in the pond. Memories of his hands on her, his lips pressed against her neck, and the way his body felt against hers.

Hump Day Hook

What's up people?! I'm back from the sick and have a nice little bit from Silent Tears for you. Hope you like a little Brax and Cam.

Excerpt:

“I know you have secrets.” He softened his tone as he took a step closer to her and placed his hands on her jaw, cradling her face. “I can see the pain in your eyes, Cam. I’m not blind and I’m not stupid. I know you’re hiding something from me.”
“Please. Don’t push me into to talking about something you’re not ready to hear.”
Brax dropped his forehead to hers and took a deep breath. “Is it because you’re being forced to marry me?”
The words were on the tip of her tongue clawing at her lips to be set free. All she had to do was tell him what had happened to her, what the Mankato’s were using to manipulate her family. How, once again, she was being forced to do something against her will.

*Sighs*...I love these two!

Secret Cravings Contemporary Blog Hop

Hello! Welcome to my world. I hope everyone is having a fantastic day. For this hop, I am going to celebrate my upcoming release, Gravity Beach. It is the 2nd book in my Courage Series. Below is the blurb and a small excerpt. All you have to do is leave a comment with your email address and you could win a copy of, Courageous Dare, the 1st book in the series.

Blurb:

Jolie Baker had it all, amazing friends, a college degree, and a man she planned to spend the rest of her life with. When her love is killed in action, Jolie has to learn to live again. Three years after Ethan’s death, she moves to Gravity Beach to start a new life. At her new teaching job, one of her students is surprised when her father returns home from war. Jolie never imagined how important the returning solider and his daughter would become.
David Stokes wants nothing more than to raise his daughter, Madison, and give her the best life he can. Because Madison’s mother abandoned them, David is all she has. When he meets his little girl’s teacher on the beach, he is surprised by how much he wants to know her. David sees the pain in Jolie’s eyes, but will his love be enough to ease her tattered soul?

Excerpt:
Jolie wanted to say something profound to him. She wanted to tell him how much she loved him. How important he was to her very being. But, when she pressed her hand against his chest every single word left her brain. There was not a single trace of his normal warmth. His chest, normally firm, because he was a muscular man, now was hard to the touch and she could feel the coldness radiating through the thick layers of his uniform. Jolie jerked her hand away and stumbled back. She couldn’t catch her breath. Her heart beat so fast it was painful. She needed air, so she rushed back through the mourning people and crashed through the front doors of the funeral home. The fingers she’s pressed to his chest still felt cold and the chill seemed to be spreading throughout her entire body. Jolie wanted her love back. She wanted her life back. She wanted Ethan.

Hump Day Hook

Hello, I'm sick this week so Ima keep it short and sweet.

Excerpt:

Jolie sat down after her long day of organizing. She tugged one of the last boxes onto her lap and ran her thumb over the lid. Jolie swallowed past the bitter grip of grief. She flipped the lid back and stared brokenly at the contents. Baseball caps, old, faded t-shirts, photo’s that held perfect moments that Jolie would never need a picture to remember. The box was full-to-the-brim with Ethan, even his smell filtered from within. Great gasping sobs left her as she slammed the box closed and shoved it under her bed. Her heart pounded in her chest, and panic bubbled its way up until she cried out in agony.

Hump Day Hook and Giveaway

Hello! It's another amazing week of HDH. This week there are giveaways galore. Depending on how many comments I get I will be giving away a coffee mug and magnates, and possibly a signed copy of Courageous Dare. So, here you go. I give you more of Courageous Dare. This is one of my favorite scenes in the very first chapter.

Excerpt:

Her hands ghosted down the back of his neck, over his shoulders, and across his chest to the buttons on his vest. As she worked the buttons, he put his hands on both sides of her face and kissed her so passionately, her knees nearly buckled. Once she got the vest off, she had no patients for the shirt buttons. She ripped them open with both of them groaning in delight at the sounds of buttons hitting the wall and hardwood floor. With their hands working together, his clothes quickly became a pile on the floor next to hers.

Hump Day Hook

Welcome back! So, last week most everyone who commented asked what happened in the next paragraph in Courageous Dare. Well, Here you go. Although I really don't think you are going to like me very much. *evil laugh*

Excerpt:

Fire, screams, and orders shouted. The world spun as someone dragged Nash from the rubble.
“Sniper!”
Pop, pop, pop—blood, pain, and more orders shouted.
“Medic—I need a medic now!”
Nash didn’t know who shouted—couldn’t focus on anything other than the blazing pain in his left arm and shoulder. The screams, oh God, the screams burned into his mind.
“Baylee—take care of, Baylee.”
Gun shots and another explosion, planes and helicopters flying over head, pain and more pain, and then the world went black.

Seeeeee! I told you all it wasn't any better. I know, I'm evil.

Hump Day Hook

Welcome back! I have another small piece from Courageous Dare for you all. You will probably hate me when you read it...*evil laugh*...so, read on people!!!

Excerpt:

Nash scanned the blown out buildings and the ravines in the rocks on either side of the road. Something caught his eye to his two o’clock. Before he could call any ones attention to it, a loud explosion rocked the ground.

Hump Day Hook

Hello all! Hope you're all well. I thought I would take it back a bit and show you a little of my two favorite characters, Nash and Baylee. I pretty much sobbed through this whole story! This scene is a shorty and doesn't have that emotional aspect I normally post, so I hope you like it anyway. I will likely be posting a good bit from this book because the sequel, Gravity Beach, comes out in May! Without further adieu, I give you Courageous Dare.

Excerpt:

“Take it away, Nash. Make it all go away.”
He kissed her as if he’d never kissed her before. Hard and desperate, he completely lost himself. Pushing her up against the wall, he never parted his lips from hers. When her back hit with a thud, he trailed his mouth down her jaw, her neck, and the valley of her breasts, leaving open mouthed kisses and bites all the way down her body.

Hump Day Hook

Hello, welcome to another HDH. Hope everyone is doing great and that you enjoy a little something from Silent Tears.

Excerpt:

Cam dipped her head back to wet her hair. She actually moaned at how good it felt. Closing her eyes she let the water cascade over her body. When strong hands caressed her ribs, she smiled. She opened her eyes and took in the sight of him. Even though she stood at five feet ten inches, she had to crane her neck to peer up at him. The muscles in his shoulders and arms were long and rounded. His pectorals were broad and twitched when she placed her hand over his heart. His abdominal muscles were firm and formed the perfect six pack. What she found absolutely mouthwatering was the perfect V his muscles formed at his pelvis.

I hope you enjoyed the little visual I gave you of Brax. He's really yummy...I'm just sayin. You know, if you wanted to go grab a copy. It's on Amazon and B&N! Anyhooo...I'm off the have a girls day with my lovely sister in law and niece. Have a good one!

Hump Day Hook

Hello! So, so sorry I didn't participate last week. I was busy and sick at the same time. It was awful! Anyhooooo, here I am with a hook from Gravity Beach. Gravity Beach is book 2 in my Courage Series. We first met Jolie in Courageous Dare.

Excerpt:

Jolie sat down after her long day of organizing her new home. She tugged one of the last boxes onto her lap and ran her thumb over the lid. Her heart began an insistent pace and Jolie swallowed past the bitter grip of grief. She flipped the lid back and stared brokenly at the contents. Baseball caps, old, faded t-shirts, photo’s that held perfect still moments that Jolie would never need a picture to remember. The box was full-to-the-brim with Ethan, even his smell filtered from within. Great gasping sobs left her as she slammed the box closed and shoved it under her bed. Her heart pounded in her chest, and panic bubbled its way up until she cried out in agony.

Hump Day Hook!

Hey peeps! I love doing this because I get to not only post my upcoming releases, but I get to read some amazing stuff I may never have gotten to see before. Anyhoo...this week I give you a little Gravity Beach. We first met Jolie in my book Courageous Dare *insert shameless plug* so if you haven't read that one and you like what you see here, I would recommend it! Get your tissues though cause Dare is a toughy! Okay, onto Gravity Beach. Not only am I showing you part of the book, but I'm also revealing the cover which I did all by myself!

Please note this has not gone into editing yet so forgive any mistakes!

Excerpt:

He had no choice but to do as Jolie said. Liam kicked away from the pier and started swimming toward the shore with Madison in tow. As Jolie started to swim out from under the pier, another wave slammed into her. She had nothing left. Jolie got tossed around and the last thing she felt was absolute panic as her lungs filled with water and her head slammed against the wooden beams. That was when everything started to fade away.

Hump Day Hook

Hello, I'm a bit late this morning. I thought I'd take it back a little to my very first book, So Beautifully Broken.

Excerpt:

Horrible things always haunted her dreams and that feeling that her demons were just around the corner was always there in the back of her head. When Lilly’s mind went to those dark places, it took days for her not to see the devil in the face of every man out there. She needed to be numb. She needed to feel nothing. Only then could she function without falling to pieces, without getting trapped in the darkness that shrouded her soul.

Hump Day Hook

Hey hookers! LMAO sorry, I couldn't resist. I hope everyone is have a wonderful day. Now that Silent Tears is available at Barnes & Nobel, Amazon, Bookstrand, and ARe, I will celebrate by showing you a scene from Silent Tears. I love these characters and it was a joy to write their story. Hope you enjoy.

Excerpt:

The movement was stupid because he had pressed his chest up against a loaded gun that she could’ve easily fired. Brax couldn’t stop himself from getting as close as he could. He couldn’t stand seeing her in pain. She blinked and shook her head. When she finally got her bearings, she dropped the gun. She scrambled to get away from him. When she turned her back, he gasped. Her beautiful skin was marred with scars and a jagged symbol of some kind that had been branded into the flesh of her right shoulder. He turned the light on to get a better look. One scar curved over her right hip, up across her back and wrapped around her left shoulder. Whoever did this to her spent hours cutting into her flesh making intricate patterns.

Hump Day Hook

Ahoy all! Yesterday was release day for Silent Tears! I'm so excited about this release. I loved writing this story and the characters so much I actually cried when I finished it. This one has been a long time coming so I hope you enjoy! In celebration of the release I will choose one winner to receive a free PDF copy of Silent Tears.

Excerpt Silent Tears:
After dinner he took her back out onto the balcony. The temperature had dropped considerably and when she shivered, he got her one of his jackets and draped it over her shoulders. The wind blew in great gusts causing her hair to blow over her face. Brax stood closer to her than she realized. She could feel the heat from his strong body. He moved the hair covering her face and tucked it behind her ear. Their eyes met and once again she was held prisoner by the intense passion behind that pale gray stare. He held her face in his hands and lowered his lips to hers. When their mouths met, she nearly passed out from the sensations roaring through her body. His lips were perfect and his hands on her face made her feel incredibly safe.

Hump Day Hook

Hey guys! Welcome back. I thought I would post a bit from Courageous Dare. Love this story and am excited for book 2, Gravity Beach, to come out this year. Hope everyone has a great day!

Excerpt Courageous Dare:
Without fear or uncertainty in Baylee’s voice, she spoke in her way of challenging Jamie. “Dare.”
Jamie’s smile spread even wider, and she nodded slowly. She took a shot before saying, “I dare you to have sex with a stranger.”
A collective gasp swept around the room. Suddenly, this game had taken a turn from the occasional strip tease and random kiss to something else entirely. Baylee laughed and thought for a moment. She hadn’t been with a man in a very long time, not since her relationship ended a year ago. She never thought she’d sleep with some random man, but when her gaze fell upon the man sitting next to her, she made her decision.

Hump Day Hook

Hiya! I have much going on today but I couldn't miss out on Humping today!!! I think we'll visit with Jolie today from Gravity Beach.

Excerpt Gravity Beach:

Mrs. Perkins, the principal, motioned to someone outside the door. A few seconds later a man walked in wearing a U.S. Army uniform. Jolie would know it anywhere. Ethan had worn one for more than half of their relationship. The unbearable lump formed in her throat and her eyes filled with tears. She tried to swallow her emotions down, but all she could see was Ethan. How he would grab her up in a huge hug when he first returned home from a deployment. She staggered back a step as her heart felt as though it stopped in her chest.

Hump Day Hook!

Welcome back peeps! Hope all is well and you enjoy this little bit from Silent Tears.

Excerpt:

“Dad,” Brax said his voice shaking as he kneeled beside his father. “Hang in there, dad.” He held Roman’s hand close to his heart as he leaned over him.
“Make their blood flow, Braxton.” Roman coughed and winced in pain.
The car swerved and skidded around corners as the driver tore down the winding roads. Cam couldn’t stop the tears from flowing.
“Camellia, take care of my son,” Roman whispered as he gripped her hand.
“You’re going to help me take care of him, Roman.”
He shook his head slightly, coughed again, and then spoke to Brax. “It’s in your hands now, son. I love you.”

Hump Day Hook

Hello all, it's that time again! Today I give you a bit of my next release,
Silent Tears, which comes out next month. I do so love me some Braxton Godfry.

Excerpt Silent Tears:

Michael went back to the car and offered his hand to whoever was seated in the back seat. Braxton’s neck tingled with a strange sensation when a small hand gripped Michael’s. As the passenger got out of the car, everything slowed down as if the earth had to prepare itself for her entrance. A high heel covered foot touched the ground and Braxton’s eyes traveled from the shiny, pointed toe, all the way up a toned calf and leg covered in a pair of stockings that had the sexy thin line up the back. As the woman stood up from the seat and became completely visible to Braxton, he had to widen his stance so he wouldn’t waver. She was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. He could imagine how good she would be in bed.

Hump Day Hook Jan 9, 2013

Hello all, here we are again! I asked what you would like to read today and a few of you said my WIP. I am happy to say that Gravity Beach (Jolie's Story) has been submitted and I am in that perpetual waiting game. Anyhoo, here is a little bit of Jolie and David!

Gravity Beach:

Her words seemed to be all he needed as he put his hands on both sides of her face and kissed her heatedly. For a brief moment, she felt self conscious as he slowly removed her shirt. Her modesty flew out the window when he lowered his head and ran his lips across her bare flesh. Jolie dropped her head back and moaned deep in her throat. She wanted to feel his skin against hers so she nearly ripped his shirt from his body. He smiled devilishly at her when she stepped back toward the bed. Watching him watching her weakened her knees. He tracked her like she was his prey. The need inside her now grew into something indescribable. Her body burned, ached for him to consume her.

I hope you enjoyed these two, I know I most certainly loved writing them! Keep your fingers crossed this gets accepted.

Hump Day Hook

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was awesome. Let's visit with Brax and Cam today from Silent Tears. I should be getting this back from my awesome editor because this book comes out Feb 13 as of right now. So, so excited about this one!!!

Excerpt Silent Tears:

Hearing Brax call Jonah son brought a smile to her face. She couldn’t hold onto the image of his face as he held her in his arms. When Jonah ran off to do as he asked, Brax face morphed into one of utter horror. He held his hand up from where it held her at her lower back. When she saw it, she gasped when she realized it was covered in her blood. The tear that streaked down his cheek was the last thing she saw before everything went black.
